2012 Merlot

At first sniff the wine reveals aromas of sweet plums and blackberries supported by hints of vanilla, smoke, and toasted oak.  But within a couple minutes the youthful primary scents transform into a bottle aged bouquet dominated by the essence of cassis.

The wine enters the palate with an expected softness, but a fine rim of tannin immediately lets the taster know this is a more serious Merlot than most.  The tannins mingle with the juicy sweetness of blackberries generating a wine with noticeable length.  This well balanced Merlot will pair with many foods, or can be enjoyed all on its own.
